It's the end of the year, so let's talk about what next year has in store for us and what the interior design trends will be in 2024.
As technology advances, smart homes will become more commonplace; reflective surfaces, biophilic design and more will be a big trend, but let's get down to the details!
Smart homes
As the world evolves and technology becomes more ingrained in our lives, smart homes are becoming increasingly common. Thanks to smart home technology, we can digitally control nearly every function of our home. I love this technological development, as it has many advantages. For example, we can remotely control lighting, heating, and shading, making our daily lives more comfortable. The biggest plus for me is that there is less need for free-standing cables (apart from the fact that I can keep control in my hands!). Security systems help protect our house with integrated surveillance systems. This allows us to feel in control and stay informed about what's going on in our home or business.
Reflective surfaces
In the coming year, there will be a continued focus on using reflective surfaces, mirrors, and metallic materials in our designs. We are also excited about incorporating stained glass surfaces and aluminum materials into our work, not just as decorative elements, but also for furniture, walls, and ceilings. Expect to see fantastic lamps, tables, and chairs made of glass, either entirely or partly. Designers now have access to exciting materials, allowing for stunning combinations with natural materials like stone and concrete.
Oversized furniture
Functionality and comfort are essential for furniture, but when they come in extra-large dimensions, they can become the focal point of your home or business. Add a unique design and special choice of materials, and everyone will be amazed by an oversized armchair or an extra-large plant in the hallway!
Biofil design
When nature moves into space, it has many positive effects, such as reducing stress, improving cognitive function, calming, and even boosting creativity.
Biophilic design is not just about planting houseplants, but the cool interior design trends for 2024 are plant walls, the use of natural woods, creative plant-based materials with translucent plant details, and panels with translucent patterns. Good biophilic design makes the most of the interior.
Colour of the year
The Pantone experts have chosen the trendiest color for next year, and the official color of 2024 is the velvety peach shade called "Peach Fuzz" fantasy. It's a softer shade than this year's energetic 'Viva Magenta'. Many may find it surprising, and some might not know how to incorporate it into an interior, but we at Studio Trend Interior believe it can add a special touch to a space as a well-chosen covering, wall color, or even furniture. In 2024, you don't have to use this peach shade everywhere, but even using it on smaller surfaces and accessories can create special solutions.
Super trends emerge year after year, and it's worth keeping up with them to stay ahead of the curve. However, it's important not to simply incorporate every trend into your interior without careful consideration. You don't need a complete overhaul every year to keep your home, accommodation, or restaurant looking up-to-date. Nonetheless, it's worth considering certain design elements to tailor the space in a sophisticated way that reflects your personality and important values. For instance, what could be the 2024 Color of the Year for a man's bedroom?
